Wow. You can push Q6600s really far.

Today, I was feeling particularly ballsy and decided to have another go at trying for 4Ghz. I booted her up at 425FSB (3.750Ghz) @ 1.675Vcore (1.6 via CPUZ). I then started up ClockGen and CPUZ and slowly raised my FSB. Previously, I had only really gotten to 3.838Ghz when I booted into 3.6Ghz. Obviously, I was stupid not to realize that I could still boot into higher frequencies instead of using ClockGen. I got to about 3.9Ghz and I BSOD-ed. I rebooted back into bios and proceeded to boot into 3.85Ghz. (1.63VCore via CPUID) And sure enough, slowly and surely, I inched past 3.98Ghz into the 4Ghz club.

Whew. What a day. :>

Pfft, I use liquid nitrogen to get my computer up to 7ghz.

Using software to overclock your CPU is dumb, you better apply those settings to your BIOS before it causes damage. If it BSODs, then you should haven't it that high anyway before you lose your CPU and Mobo and maybe as a bonus, you're Ram too! ;D

PS: Teh Chess Club r jealouz!

True it is, but there is no way in hell I'm getting that Q6600 to boot into 4Ghz, lol. I would use SetFSB, but I don't think my board is supported. (Plus, SetFSB/ClockGen are how all the damn WRs are set, lol. >_> )

Meh.

This is what will eventually happen to Corran.

Sounds like a sign to me! How has it been running so far? Lets see some 3dmark scores and etc!

Mmmm. I'll get onto that. (I doubt I'll be able to bench 06 or vantage with 4Ghz. I might try 01SE and maybe SuperPi.)

Using the benchmark isn't limited to a a speed in which your processor runs, it is meant to be terribly demanding so those using liquid nitrogen can get hard ons ;)
