Ok, so some of you may know I've been dealing with a virus. But it get's worse. Everytime I try to remove this adware Malware thing, it comes right back up. Everytime I quarantine or delete it, it doesn't go away. A new one just appears and I get popups.

This is when I scan everytime after I remove.

This is my quarantine box, and no. When I remove it it does not go away. :'( Help please!

Start up in safe mode, then run ad-aware and clean it that way.

Spybot S&D (http://www.safer-networking.org/index2.html) is also something good to download.

Get some sort of Rootkit detector and find the source, download AVG Free(Suggest you buy it since you get the ROotkit finder) download Spybot S&D(its awesome), Download RegCure to Uber sex your PC to greatness. I use all of those and my PC fuckin soars i mean i get like 5 viruses a day and i end up kicking there ass because everything detects it at the same time.

OR

Type in the name of the virus or Destination in Search then delete it yourself. Some viruses use a mask to make you think they're deleted when they arent.

Even IF they all get removed again, what the fuck, 5 viruses a day?

You're doing something horribly wrong.

Vacuum the inside of your computer, then proceed to rub a balloon against your harddrive.

Ok, well after some fixes and stuff, I finally got the time to download spybot. So far, worked perfectly!! Did you know there was 3 types of the same virus?!? There was the regular Virtumonde, the Vitrumonde.generic, and another one i think was like phx or something. Crazy!! Thanks guys, I think problem's solved. Btw I use firefox sometimes, but I use internet explorer too =/ dont know why I do. Is firefox safer?

Zeke
02-01-2009, 02:16 AM
Yes, and less likely to crash, and more modifiable, and faster.

giantzfan53
02-01-2009, 02:34 AM
Uh, when I use ad-aware it says there is still that virtumonde thing there. Odd =/

Much safer. Especially with adblock plus and Noscript (Which now work together :D)

1. Don't download porn. (:P0

Download hijackthis (http://www.download.com/Trend-Micro-HijackThis/3000-8022_4-10227353.html)
This program will tell you all the processes running after this you can post your log on a site and they usually will tell you what to do or if you think you know you can try to delete it... If you are not sure then you should probably post on a website... hijackthis is the best program ever tho.

You should probably also have another virus program then ad adware 08... I just don't think this is the best program...

http://www.avast.com/eng/download-avast-home.html

This is good and free... I also use it.

Like teddi said you should take nod32,owns all.I use it.You have also to realized that some anti-virus may exagerate that you have a lot of virus, some anti-virus counts cookies that track what you do as virus,so it start to adds up.Delete that stupid gay anti-virus and use nod32.

Ad-aware is a good program, and like any anti-x program it can provide unfortunate false positives. Whats the location of the file it's found?

giantzfan53
02-01-2009, 05:13 PM
Ok, I will download nod32, and I am doing a smart scan from ad-aware right now (not full, takes too long and in a couple hours I'll be gone for about 2 days)
EDIT:Uninstalled avast. Teddi you mean the virus root? Or the actual program

And yet i keep gettin different pop ups and different viruses yet.. What is this?

I've been getting lots of these

Basically, what Spybot does, is it's an extra layer of protection. When it detects a registry key is changed, or added, or whatever else, it asks do you want to accept or deny the action. This can be turned off, but it only usually happens during installing something.

Lay of porn.

Download Firefox.

Do not download anything that is fishy.

Do not open emails you do not know the sender.

Do NOT download windows updates and use their shitty protection bullshit.

Heres what I do when I get some malicious virus. I use adaware and if that doesn't work a simple system restore normally does the trick or I found the source and delete it manually.

And that is the inapt users guide to paranoia and pc's.

Ok, firstly.

Yes, download firefox. Then get Adblock Plus and Noscript. They work together very nicely. Automatically, you can pretty much browse as much porn as you want without fear of downloading any backdoors or active X scripts. If you don't know the sender like Bob said, ignore the email. DO download windows updates. Why? Because if you don't your pc is more vunerable and pretty much can be crapped on. So Bob is basically crapping on his own anus. Check to ensure Ad-aware isnt giving a false positive. If it's the case and safemode doesn't work, you need to turn off System restore, then go into safe mode and then clean it. The reason being Is I believe you have a worm which is safely hiding in your registery. Do that, and it should be ok.

If you question is Firefox unsafe? Yes, it's probably the most secure web browser there is. There's a reason we've made most of the damn site FF only, and thats because FF is safer and more secure, at least 1.4x faster than IE and it can be modified. IE is utter crap. Recently there was a huge vunerability in it which took MS 48 hours to patch. Fun thing is, FF has never has a vunerability issue, and each update is just fixing / optimizing vgui code. If you prefer the look of IE, guess what, there's FF skins which make FF look like IE. You have no damn reason to not get it.

Alright, re-downloaded all windows. Btw, system restore wouldn't work. The virus wiped out all previous back ups. :( But it should be good now. Also, there were about 5 other users using my unprotected internet, so I got it protected now too so it's really fast. And I also use firefox, no more IE. Thanks again.

Caution: Viruses may be hidden under your system restores! To get rid of this, go under Control Panel, System, and click on the Tab "System Restore." Check Turn off all System Restore on all drives. Do a virus search, delete all viruses, and you're good to go. Glad to help.
