Custom Player Models FAQ
Hey there, this thread is all about Custom Player models and you. Make sure if you're going to donate for one, you follow this threads guidelines.
Quick Summary of the custom model:
Anyhow, now onto the guidelines onto how to get your model up faster, with the least amount of trouble.
- Allows a custom player model for the player across all Platinum BB servers (IE, this does not count for roleplay). This means Deathrun / Longshot / Stranded etc.
- Costs $15 for Life. However, in the event you go idle for more than 90 days, this will automatically stop sending the files to other players until you start playing again (Your custom model will still exist, just other players will not download them).
- We reserve the right to decline the requested model and ask you to select another model.
- Models will usually be put up 24-48 hours after the payment, however sometimes due to unforseen consequences, this can take up to a working week.
- After everything, submit a Private Message to me with a link to the model (rapidshare, garrysmod.org etc).
- Make sure the model IS actually a model and not a re-skin. There have been a few submissions where it's been a re-skin from say, FPSB, and not actually a model. We cannot put this on the server, so ensure it is actually a fully hexed model before you submit it.
- Make sure the model ALREADY works as a player model with all animations. The amount of models we recieve is fairly large, and most of the time these aren't even player models. This means wasted time and effort having to test the model, then having to decompile the model and see if we can rig it correctly to get it working. If we can't, it means we have to contact you and explain that which in the long run is a waste of time for everyone. Make sure the model already works. If you're not sure, please hand it over to our resident model fixer Welshdrag, you can PM him here, however, please be courteous and ask nicely. No one likes working for people who can be troublesome.
- Try and ensure the model file name is in lowercase. I know this appears to be an odd request, but to try and get the files to the player faster and more efficiently, we use a feature called FastDownload. This allows us to use an external server to ship you the files at a faster rate (usually the exact same as your standard download speed). However, FastDownload can run into problems with uppercase digits, and thus will result in files not being downloaded. Not a major problem, but it can still be time consuming.
- Can you make XYZ model for me? No. We just take existing models and put them in game. We don't have a resident modeller here, so we cannot make them for you.
- But my model isn't up yet?! You're probably asking me (Teddi) this question on the server. My time is taken up quite heavily and I'm often doing multiple things at once, please don't bug me, it doesn't help, especially if I'm trying to catch five minutes to unwind. I am by no means superman, and I can only get through my list one at a time really. If it's not done yet, I can assure you it will be done soon and is most likely on my list.
- But I want it I want it I want ittttt! An attitude like that will most likely just make me say no and refund the money straight back to you.
This should hopefully make things easier for everyone in the future.
